VMware ESX Server v2.5
Servers Hosted by VMware ESX Server
There's nothing like playing on the computer on a rainy day doing computer stuff. I'm not an IT administrator, but I play one at home. On a single physical PC, I am running the following
seven virtual machines:
- VM1: Windows XP Professional. A client machine that is running 24/7, especially useful for running long background tasks like large ftp downloads or usenet reads. I can transfer gigabytes over the course of days with this machine.
- VM2: ISA 2006 firewall to Network Services. Protects my "network services" machines as described by ISA enthusiast Tom Shinder.
- VM3: Windows 2003 Domain Controller. Single sign on (SSO), authentication, directory services, and DNS. The foundation for many company's networks.
- VM4: PHP Gallery Server. The most excellent free, open-source photo server that runs on PHP.
- VM5: Exchange 2003
- VM6: Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005
- VM7: Microsoft Windows Server Update Services
