September 2008
Near 100,000 miles on your Lexus LX470 or Toyota Landcruiser? Don't be surprised if the OBD2 check engine light comes on indicating a bad O2 (oxygen) sensor.

Low Tech Solution to Schedule Power On Times to Extend Hard Drive Life in My ReadyNAS 600
November 2008
I want to extend hard drive life on my ReadyNAS 600 by scheduling daily powered-on times. The problem is my ReadyNAS 600 can turn itself off, but cannot turn itself on. I use a cheap $10 appliance timer to turn the ReadyNAS 600 on.
Fujitsu Notebook P7010 Fan Noise, Overheating, and BSOD
July 2008
The fan inside a four-year-old Fujitsu P7010 notebook computer becomes noisy and is consequently lubricated. However, this fan repair later causes heat-related crashes as the weather heats up because thermal pads needed to get to the fan are re-used. A suitable replacement for the thermal pads is installed and the heat-related crashes go away.
Review of Mr. Nozzle Vacuum Hose, Claw Nozzle, and Crevice Nozzle (#100-DB Kit)
April 2009
The vacuum hose on my otherwise excellent wet/dry utility vacuum often aggravated me by collapsing when bent under vacuum load or when vacuuming up hot liquids. The vacuum hose from Mr. Nozzle turned out to be incollapsible vacuum hose during my use. Also, the claw nozzle turned out to be a valuable, useful vacuuming attachment.
Cleaning Dog Urine from Carpet by Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning)
March 2009
Accidents are inevitable in potty training a puppy. The most difficult cleanups were pee-on-carpet accidents. I spot steam cleaned (also called hot water extraction) these areas with my boiling water and my wet/dry vacuum. This method turned out to be highly effective!
October 2008
Handheld vacuums are so useful for spot clean ups. They have come a long away from the puny "dustbusters" of ten years ago. Take a look at Black and Decker Pivot and Dyson Root 6 as we measure their suction rates and flow rates with full and empty canister bins. And find out why one costs about double the other.

My favorite caffeinated beverage, hot or cold: sweetened iced tea using Tea Spot's Mango Tango. Um, um, good.

December 2008
When I have a rough day, there is nothing I like better than to blow off some steam by vacuuming.
