Filter Costs and Maintenance: Advantage Dyson Root 6

Filter Costs and Maintenance: Advantage Dyson Root 6
R3: The Dyson Root 6's filtration is radically different than the conventional paper filter that B&D's Pivot uses. The bulk of the filtration is handled by gravity in 2 cyclonic stages. Consequently, there is no conventional primary cone filter to regularly shake out, clean, or replace. The only filters present are the permanent, washable, secondary pre-motor and post-motor filters that, of course, need far less cleaning than the cone filter of the B&D Pivot.

P3: In contrast, for particulate separation, the B&D Pivot relies primarily on a pleated cone filter that gets dirty very fast and needs regular replacement. While the B&D Pivot has a horizontal cyclonic chamber, it is compromised by its horizontal orientation and cannot use gravity as efficiently for particulate filtration.
