September 2008
After I replaced both pre-catalytic oxygen sensors, I was ready to clear the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
Note: One reader has reported that it is possible to reset the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Thanks to Gary L. for this tip.OBD2 Reader and Data Link Connector (DLC) Hook-up
As before, I again plug-in my Actron PocketScan Reader.
However, this time, I turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
The OBD2 Data Link Connector (DLC) should be located underneath the dashboard of the driver's side. I plug in my OBD2 reader there.
After turning the ignition to ON without starting the engine, I press and hold "Erase" for three seconds. Eventually, I got the "Done" message (inset).
After I cleared the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with my OBD2 reader, I disconnected it and then started the engine. The MIL was off and stayed off. My MIL problem was solved.
